Misdirected: Part 2

The "Neo Believer" seems to be oblivious to the teachings of the Scriptures. Throughout past generations, the tendency has been to elasticize certain aspects of the Bible to fit a religion of self-gratification. We underline verses that would seem to edify the believer, while, at the same time, not being cognizant that the Scriptures that we have failed to emphasize are just as important. It is not a question of what God can do for me; rather, it is an attitude of what can I do to serve God. The Church seems to be more concerned with the physical healing than spiritual healing, prosperity rather than giving, devil rebuking rather than God praising, emotional exercises rather than "be still and know that I am God." We build our Assemblies upon feelings rather than on faith, competition rather than unification of the faithful. We are taught how to get our prayers answered instead of learning how to hear from God. The Church has become a socialized gathering rather than a holiness meeting. We change translations of the Bible so as to bring God down to our level, rather than realizing it is the Holy Spirit that opens our understanding.

3 Ways to Maximise the Teaching Power of Educational Posters

Educational posters are a deceptively simple teaching resource which can have a huge impact in the classroom - if used to their best advantage. The reason that these materials are 'deceptively simple' is that it can be very easy to get it wrong. If not used carefully, educational posters become background wallpaper which does nobody any favours! Fortunately, we've got some great tips to help you make them work well for you...

1. Looks DO matter

When it comes to the educational posters you use to inspire your students, looks really do matter. We know, it probably should be that the inspiring content of the poster is enough to make it great, but if your they don't look good, they're not likely to attract any attention or to improve the appearance of your classroom.

Youth Leadership: 6 Ways That Youth Leadership Clubs Can Help Students Develop Leadership Skills

Student leadership training should include involving teens in youth leadership clubs.

Do your teens have plenty of leadership potential, but not an avenue in which to develop it? Youth leadership clubs provide high school students with a structure in which they can practice and nurture their high school leadership skills.

Untapped Potential

Sarah is your typical teenager. She goes to school, is on the volleyball team, and is considering running for an office in student government. Recently, her student leadership teacher suggested that she join a youth leadership club.

10 Golden Rules for Making Games Work

1. You are resourceful

You can manage a remarkable amount, have more abilities than you imagine and can instil great learning using the power of games. If you don't believe me, run some more challenging experiences or take your team somewhere that will challenge and push your people. See how much they can do and realise about themselves for the first time. If it is true for them, why not also for you?

2. Be observant

When you observe everything that is going on, you will be able to use more of it for learning, whether that is obvious to everyone or a subtlety that most people miss. Knowing what was said and done (and being able to guess at what was felt based on your observations) will put you in a strong position when it comes to reviewing and sucking the deepest of learning from the experiences.

What Was Your Best Teacher Ever? Worse Teacher Ever?

Who was your best teacher ever? Does a name come flying to your lips? How about your worse teacher? Can you name him or her? I can.

In sixth grade, during the 50s, I had Mr. Henry Humdrum. (Name changed to protect the guilty.) Since he was my first male teacher, I eagerly looked forward to school. By being the same gender we would automatically be kindred spirits. Wrong! Sitting in his class that first day, I felt depressed. Mr. Humdrum was bald, portly, and strict. Why couldn't I catch a break? And how was I to know that because of him I would become a skillful teacher? I know it sounds crazy, yet it's absolutely true.

Mr. Humdrum's wardrobe was dull, and he never told amusing stories. There were no snacks, visual aids, slides, hands-on-science, learning centers, guest speakers or Snow Days.

Student Leadership: The 8 Presentation Skills in the Speaker's Checklist

Great public speaking skills are the hallmark of an effective leader. As teen leaders develop leadership skills, they will also need to develop their speaking skills. After all, who wants to hear speeches from a robot? Someone who is interesting to watch and listen to will have amazing success in getting their ideas across.

How to Give More Effective Speeches

Sue has to give a speech to her fellow youth group members about activity planning. She has not given many speeches before, and wants to make a good impression on her peers. She has seen effective speakers give speeches, and they seem natural at it. She wonders, "What is their secret... "

How to Get Through To A Class You Struggle With From A Classroom Management Approach

First and foremost, you need to go into the class with a positive attitude, good body language, a smile on your face and a feeling of happiness emanating from your voice. If you go into the class feeling stressed, that will only lead to more stress which will lead to health and motivational problems for you and only make the situation worse. Students are quick to spot a teacher's bad vibes and will set out to exploit them. That's the nature of 'the student beast'. Therefore, in other words, you may need to 'fake it'. You will be surprised how that can help.

Always say, "Good morning" with gusto and a smile on your face that signals that you are wishing everyone a happy, productive day.

Make the class aware often that you are there to help them along the way; that you have goals for them and you to achieve and that these can only be achieved with their help and effort.

17 Revision Techniques

Perhaps the only issue to confront you that is worse than revision would be the exam day itself!

They are both acknowledged together with trepidation - rather like a call into your dentist! Although most people don't want to do revision the end result will at most certainly be to your benefit.

Now, how to get started on the task. Exactly how should you approach 'learning' once again the particular paperwork from all of the those many years of study, to ensure you will be prepared for examination time?

1. Start revision early. 'Early' is dependent on exactly how many topics you have to revise. There isn't really any one that can state that it is far better to begin one week before or one even month prior to the BIG day.

Quality or Quantity in Our Education - What Is Taught to the Majority?

We live in a world full of competition and selfishness but should this be present in our teaching system as well? Well, the answer is obviously "no"; everyone will accept it, right? But is this accepted by most of the institutions in the world around especially in under-developed countries.

I am a not an outstanding student getting good marks but this does not at all mean that I don't know about the world and I do not have much knowledge like the ones who get the highest marks. Have you ever noticed that a highest scorer always have great bragging points in him which an average student might bear but a student with less marks can never stand those points because for that so-called low scorer person those points could be bullets on his chest which not only kill the confidence but also kills all the hope inside him.

Skills You Should Insist Your Blind Child Learn in Their Elementary School Setting

Transcription of class print materials demonstrates equal access to educational materials. Keep in mind that appropriate instruction must be provided to the Braille transcriber (if other than a Braille teacher or certified transcriber) to assure that Literary and Math materials are being transcribed using appropriate code, formatting and rules that govern the Braille code.
